About Cat Girczyc SFF writer

Cat Girczyc has been an SFF writer and fan for most of her career. Paid creative writing has been mostly science-fiction and fantasy. A WGC member, she’s written many TV episodes from women’s legal drama to dark fantasy TV series as well as animation. She is now writing prose and television projects while working as a global corporate communications manager.

2021 – She’s writing the treatment and script for “Deal” a new movie project. In 2020 she wrote “Lights, Camera, Paranormal Action!” from her #FromOurDarkSide competition win. She pitched these two projects, plus “Garden Variety Aliens” in June 2021 at the Banff World Media Festival.

Also an SF fan, she’s a two-time Aurora winner, for hosting an SF radio show, and editing a fanzine. She was a recent Aurora nominee for a poem, “Card” in 2018.

The AURORAs are the annual Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association national awards.

Cat Girczyc SFF writer Television Career

She wrote episodes for two one hour dramas: Just Cause (WTN), The Collector, (SPACE). She was story consultant and wrote episodes for a season of True Pulp Murder (MysteryTV). 

Cat Girczyc SFF writer has often worked as a professional television writer with fifteen produced TV scripts to her credit. Most of these scripts have been on Canadian television with some international distribution.

She is an active member of the Writers Guild of Canada (WGC), Canada’s professional screenwriting organization. She has participated as a mentor for the WGC in a diversity program offered to new writers, mentoring a woman writer on her pilot for a TV series.

As well as being a TV writer, Catherine previously worked in several other production capacities: script consultant, associate producer, story coordinator, production coordinator, writer’s assistant, footage buyer, researcher.
