2025 so far

It’s been a good year for writing and adventures. My new credits:

  • 2025 Emerging Screenwriters Sci Fi & Fantasy Qu 1 2025 for my tv pilot of “Lights, Camera, Paranormal Action!”
  • My story “The Second Maud” was published in July in Sally Port Magazine. It’s a sweet middle-grade story about a dragon who finds a girl. Find Sally Port Magazine here.
  • My story “Hera’s Bargain” was published in July in Polar Borealis Magazine. It’s an amusing story with Greek goddesses and power struggles set in a local cafe.
  • On Spec Magazine published my story “Shambolic Manor” in Dec 2024, issue 130. It’s a haunted house story set on the UBC campus. Cover by Lynne Taylor Fahnestalk. Find On Spec here.

I also visited London and Paris. It was a terrific trip. Here are some pictures from it. I did London on my own and then met Jessica in Paris. We had an amazing time!

Spring 2024 News

Really excited to be in ON SPEC Magazine again. I recently signed a contract for “Shambolic Manor” a short story set at UBC that features a ghost, a party and Wreck Beach! Think it comes out near the end of 2024.

Last time I was published in ON SPEC, I lived in Edmonton, AB where the magazine was located.

March 14, 2024 – So pleased my odd little story “The FLD Robotics Corp Series: How to” (a 314 word very short story) made it onto the Pulp Literature Bumblebee Flash contest shortlist! Wasn’t one of the winners, but I like placing. Now to find a market for it!

Aurora Awards Nomination Season

My story “New Tudors” published in Neo-opsis March 2022 is on the Eligibility List for the Auroras, the Canadian SFF awards. I’d be honoured if you’d consider nominating it so that it can make the final ballot! It only costs $10 to become a member and you can nominate in all categories. See https://www.csffa.ca/

You must be a Canadian citizen or resident to nominate. Do it this month! Then, if the story makes the final ballot, I’ll be asking for a vote! I’d love to win an Aurora award for short fiction!

Also, I have a poem eligible too – “Sweet Morning Fog” in May 2022 Polar Borealis #21

Free download of the magazine with the poem at www.polarborealis.ca, go to downloads area and select #21.

The story was originally published by Neo-Opsis as seen below.

Anniversary of Neo-Opsis Magazine’s publication of The New Tudors – coincidentally my calendar has a Hogarth picture of Henry VIII – though my story was a #spaceship based one.🎉💕 Thanks Karl and Stephanie Johanson.
